چکیده
This research presents the numerical and empirical efforts to investigate effect of friction stir welding (FSW) parameters on weld temperature, strength, hardness for novel brass known as yellow 405-20. The approaches used measure temperature strength were studied first time 405-20 their validations via studies. Two models simulated including transient thermal analysis static structural analysis. Thermal distribution leading maximum during FSW was investigated both simulations experiments. Moreover, ultimate tensile namely measured numerically validated from its counterpart. Finally, empirically explore joint health. A 598 °C recorded, which much below melting point brass. Joint 228 MPa observed, is 83% base strength. Microscopic examination weldment revealed underlying mechanisms less compared parent material

Friction stir welding of accumulative roll bonded single phase brass
Single phase brass strips with 2 mm thickness were severely deformed through 1 and 3 cycles of accumulative roll bonding process (ARB). ARB process effectively increased the hardness, yield strength, and the ultimate strength of the processed materials. The hardness of processed material increased from 95 HV in annealed material to 225 HV in 3 cycle ARBed material, and the yielding and ultimate...

متن کاملFriction stir welding and processing
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient, environment friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining in a de...
متن کاملReview: friction stir welding tools
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a widely used solid state joining process for soft materials such as aluminium alloys because it avoids many of the common problems of fusion welding. Commercial feasibility of the FSW process for harder alloys such as steels and titanium alloys awaits the development of cost effective and durable tools which lead to structurally sound welds consistently. Material...
متن کاملAnalysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...
